Sean Boylan expressed an interest in visiting Bord na Móna Herbs growing operations to see how we were progressing in recent times. Sean’s practice is based in Dunboyne, Co. Meath, and includes a growing operation for his own dispensary and clinic. Sean was eager to visit us to share notes and give us advice on agronomy and certain plant species.
The Bord na Móna Herbs team was delighted to receive Sean at Derryhinch Bog to show him the progress of various operations. Those on-site to discuss and share knowledge included (l-r): Ronan Tormey, Sales & Product Development Manager; John Hogan, Horticulturist; Odhran Boylan, Sean’s son and practitioner at his clinic; Sean Boylan; and Dearbháil Ni Chualain, General Manager.
Ronan Tormey is currently also studying to become a Master Medical Herbalist at the Irish School of Herbal Medicine, which will lead to qualifications in Vitalist Nutrition, Iridology and Herbal Medicine.
Sean’s visit to the Bord na Móna Herbs site was also about sharing knowledge. Sean is passionate about herbs and would love to see the practice and industry grow within Ireland. The art and science of the indigenous herbalists and healers within the Boylan family can be traced as far back as the 15th century. Each generation has fostered the knowledge of their ancestors but adapted successfully to the needs of the times they live in.
