Valerian is known by herbalists to be one of the most relaxing nervines available. It is most commonly used by herbalists for sleep disorders, especially for sufferers of insomnia. It is also purported to be useful in treating stress and anxiety. It grows naturally in Ireland and is mainly found in bogs, river banks and roadsides.
