Willowherb can be found on waste ground, cleared forestry, bog margins, roadsides and railway tracks. It is also known as one of the first plants to colonise after a forest fire. Small-flowered Willowherb contains high levels of beta-sitosterol and is claimed to be useful in treating the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or enlarged prostate, and bladder and kidney disorders. It also has anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties.
