Ribwort Plantain is a common garden herb in Ireland and is found throughout the country. It is purported to be useful in treating insect bites and stings due to its anti-inflammatory properties. It also has mucilaginous properties and is sometimes used for treating coughs and colds. In Irish folklore, the leaves of Plantain were said to be very good for treating a fresh cut. When applied to the sore, it is purported to prevent blood poisoning and encourage healing.
