German Chamomile

Plant Details

  • Botanical Name: Matricaria Recutita
  • Common Names: Chamomile, Blue chamomile, Matricaria chamomilla
  • Plant Family: Asteraceae

German chamomile is a well-known aromatic herb, commonly used in herbal tea preparations and as a flavouring in the food and drinks industry. The word chamomile means ‘earth apple’ in Greek, which most likely originated from its apple-like fragrance. It is purported to have a calming effect on the nervous system and digestive tract and is also used in cosmetics, lotions and hair products.

Currently, we harvest the entire aerial part for customers making extracts, however, we plan to harvest flowers for tea products from 2021.
