Field Horsetail

Plant Details

  • Botanical Name: Equisetum Arvense
  • Common Names: Horsetail, Mare’s tail
  • Plant Family: Equisetum

Field Horsetail is one of the oldest living plants on the planet and has been in existence since the dinosaur era when these plants grew to the height of an oak tree. You will generally locate Horsetail growing on damp ground that has been cleared and compacted. Very high in mineral and trace element contents, it is used in skincare and hair products. It is a rich source of silica, which is beneficial for healthy bones, skin, hair and connective tissue. We are currently wildcrafting horsetail from our organic lands and trialing stock management to improve harvesting efficiency and quality.
